I have implemented a similar approach as the one in the nav.c file.What i do is set a minimum groundspeed in the airframe file or within the flight plan and then if the groundspeed falls below this value the cruising throttle is increased. When i fly downwind obviously the control loop does not restrict grounspeed so the plane can adjust the throttle as usual to maintain altitude. In this case the groundspeed loop is deactivated like it is not there at all (normal Paparazzi autopilot operation.
