We've already programmed a code like you've described below.
Our changes are in many files and linked with gcs control switches so it makes it difficult to make it public.
There are also other modules like I2C Amsys pressure sensors and barometer we've built.
If you want I can upload our guidance.c or eg. the whole project as a zip file.
In the near future we want to upload it over git, but it seams that this will need a little more time. (We haven't any experience with git)

Pitch --> Altitude
Throttle --> Speed

Airspeed Two (Pitch airspeed control)
Throttle --> Altitude
Pitch --> Speed

At the moment we are working on finding usable paramter values for AirspeedTwo.
Tomorrow we will go fly again so we can give you more feedback after the flight.

Hi Tobi

Vassilis' code is part of the main fork and is very easy to implement as shown in the wiki.

As far as I can hack around in the code it's not actually possible to use a module to add to the control loop code so your previous work could still be added just fine to the fixed wing control loops. If it can't I would love to see the code anyway as it would be a great start

Hi Todd,
unfortunately there is still no way to fly constant IAS without throttle control. there is/was some code to fly constant IAS controlled by throttle you should probably have look right here
should be in the wiki as well
i had the same idea some time ago and wrote my own flight control to deal with some new autopilot modes like IAS controlled by pitch
i did this right before they changed everything to modules but it is working just fine
if someone is really interested to implement this right now i would be glad to help
or just wait a few month until summer then i will probably have some more time and i will try to integrate this stuff into the actual code
still think autonomous soaring is a good feature to implement

A question to the hole community
what about changing the autopilot modes to names that are used in real aircrafts? although they might be a little bit longer it would be much easier for newbies to get into this stuff
and what about some new modes?

hope that helps
