Especially with long wires to the motor (more than 10cm from battery to motor controller) almost all controllers need or at least benefit from extra capacitors. e.g. http://www.schulze-elektronik-gmbh.de/guide/gfutc-de.pdf

On highy vibrating platforms we have also seen broken Tantalum capacitors (the big yellow input buffer). It keeps working on the desk thanks to the other small caps but is highy unstable then.

Running paparazzi off the same 3 cell battery as the motor was causing voltage drops that would upset the tiny 2's power supply and reset it. This happened mainly when climbing out after takeoff.... Not very fun. Lot's of modelling experience saved the day several times. I have really good quality batteries so I put it down to spikes and drops from the speed controller (some capacitors probably would have fixed the problem).

Now I run the tiny off of a separate battery and everything works a treat.

Roman,

I had a plane fall from the sky the other when I switched into AUTO1
mode and couldn't switch back out.. in AUTO1 it threw all the control
surfaces to their extreme ends (elevator down, ailerons right, rudder
right) and the plane locked up and nose-dived. I suspect my problem
might be related to my thermopile sensors not being correctly aligned
(the wiki is pretty vague on it..), but I still can't figure out why
manual control didn't restore after I switched back..
