Hi,

I have seen this problem before when during the global make the version of 
google maps could not be extracted. (This is one of the very first outputs when 
you run make in the toplevel directory)

In my case that happened because I did not have the certificate authority 
certificates accessible by wget. Adding the .wgetrc with the correct path 
solved my issue.
