Sorry to hear about this!
But are you sure it is not caused by some glitch in your RC receiver (e.g. it switching to some internal failsafe values or stuff like that)?
Although it sounds unlikely to be an autopilot software error, could you please provide more details?
What exact ./paparazzi_version are you using, which configuration (board, subsystems, etc..) and what hardware?
