Examples of GNU Parallel use in your field of expertise

It has a few examples specifically for the field of bioinformatics.

I would like to make something similar to other fields, but since I do
not have the expertise I need your help.

Give a few examples based on tools that are widely used in your field
showing the different ways of using GNU Parallel. Feel free to use
'man parallel' and http://www.biostars.org/p/63816/ as inspiration.
