hey!
the dock is a launcher & taskbar combination. for it to work, you need
I tried your applet out, but I'm not quite sure how it works. It showed
icons for the applications that were running, but I can't see how it
was
any different to the standard libwnck tasklist. Also, it doesn't seem
to
the most important difference is the icons 'stay around'. they are task
icons when
an app is running and launchers when it isn't, so you can start the app
and later
pop it up, hide, quit, and run again trough this one icon. if you
'keep' an app, its icon will
show up next time you start perlpanel even if the app isn't running
(like when you log in).
at the moment all apps stay in the dock until you restart perlpanel.
then first the kept icons
and then icons for all other apps which are currently running are
created.
like virtual desktops very much - if I have multiple terminals open in
different desktops they all get dumped on to the same desktop.
this i have just not implemented yet. i'm only using one workspace so i
could do with some
guidelines on what is expected here. my first guess would be to only
activate windows
already on the current workspace.
what about when all the apps windows are on other workspaces? switch
workspace then?
do you have a suggestion? probably i should just try to match the wnck
taskbar...
Can you give us a bit more detail about how your applet works, and how
it's different from the others that are already available?
it also looks for a .desktop file based on the res_class of the group
to get the user-visible
name (for this locale), icon and exec information, to spare the user
from having to enter it.
i hope the above sheds some light... it's supposed to be easier to use.
it might, once. :)))
all hints towards that goal will be appreciated!
thanks
