[Phpgroupware-developers] Proposal for categories extension

Hello

while working with Lars on the TTS update we found that the phpgw categories
allow only one category per application - which is not enough for the TTS
when
things like platform, bug type etc. are required.

So I would suggest to add another column to the database table
phpgw_categories
named cat_apppart or cat_appmodule or maybe cat_subappname.
Such a field will allow an application to have more than one (local)
categorie (group).

For the moment we worked around this by a small hack -
using tts_type and tts_platform as application name.

Adding the database field will allow allow more flexibility like
unlimited user definable categories. So users would be able to extend
the TTS by additional categories like "department", "network layer"
or what else you could imagine (for the case the user interface for such
additions
will be provided).
