Assuming there is a two week nomination period - I am putting my self forward
as community builder
Some background:
My interest in phpGroupWare - is that it is a great place to learn programming
based on examples from the huge code base.
I also find the API a very powerful platform for application development -
along with the knowledge of very skilled members of the community - I find
phpGroupWare a goldmine of code and knowledge.
My work is aimed at Facilities Management - which is defined as "a profession
that encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built
environment by integrating people, place, process and technology"
To make phpGroupWare support this field - I have contributed with the
applications 'hrm','property' and 'sms' along with some features of the API -
as ACL2, SHM-support, custom-fields, pdf-export
I started as a novice back in 2001 by porting and twisting 'projects' - and
threw it all away - and started over in 2002 using the XSLT approach.
The configuration as a FM-system is the whole range of the core apps (except
email) in addition to 'hrm','property' and 'sms'.
The system has been working very nice for our company - and since then I have
tried to convince all in my line of work that phpGroupWare would solve all
their problems.
The problem has always been that "The system might be good - but you are the
system - what if you died?"
Now - there is a shift - as a private company has seen the potential and is
delivering professional training and support.
The interest is picking up - and phpGroupWare is seriously being evaluated as
FM-systems for a number of organisations.
We are getting some funds from various sources - and my goal is to have as many
implementations as possible and try to motivate the organisations to build
competence of their own and to sign up to the community.
Regards
Sigurd.
