We have such a nice configuration GUI. There is no need to edit the config file 
by hand.
And it would have told you that you did not select a module which manages a 
structural object class.  :p

At the login page there is a "LAM configuration" link at the upper right corner.

Are there any plans to directly support the phpGroupware groups in LDAP?.
