Follow-up Comment #6, patch #6637 (project pspp):

I think it must be a compiler bug of some kind.  When I compile the newly
attached, very stripped-down source file with "gcc-4.3 -O3 -Wall -fno-inline
tests/libpspp/hmap-test.c -I src -o hmap-test -Wall -g -Wstrict-aliasing", it
aborts, but when I make almost any change of any kind to the source file, it
succeeds.

I wish I had any clue about how to report this to the GCC guys.
