Duplicate variable / underscore problem

Further to my previous email with

'error: path/filename.sav near offset 0xnnnnnn: Duplicate variable name 
P#Q1_10.'

A response from the developer of the web app where I'm getting my SPSS 
files.

"but the files would load in SPSS no problem, and as soon as I removed 
the underscores, they worked in PSPP as well."
