Keep in mind that there's a lot of i386 software out there (Windows
for
a start) which needs as guest either hardware virtualization or kqemu.
kqemu needs a 32-bit host in that case. Also, old non-VT hardware will
stay around for a while, and 32-bit host OSes probably even longer.
