Correct -- my mistake.
So the only thing I can tell you for sure is that the prep target is pretty much unsupported. I'm trying to keep the newworld bits together, but prep is really missing a maintainer.
What that means is that you're pretty much on your own. Patches are always welcome though. So if you find the reason it doesn't work, feel free to send a patch!
