QEMU 0.12 is pretty old nowadays - is this issue still reproducible with
the latest version of QEMU?

  I recently had a 0.12.4 qemu-kvm with a debian lenny guest which
  occasionally paused.

  There was no memory exhaustion as suggested earlier.

  qemu-kvm send the following output::
