FWIW I've rebased the latest version of my screamer branch at
https://github.com/mcayland/qemu/commits/screamer to git master if you want to 
see if
any noise comes out.

It seems the dummy screamer patch is not enough so I've tried on top of your screamer branch now. It does not make sound but it crashes (this is with --audio-drv-list=alsa in case that matters):
