Hi ,
I got this email address from the
QEMU / QEMU · GitLab page.
I'm fairly new to the mac os and I'm still finding my way around how to use homebrew and other packages.
I use podman which in turn uses qemu. I installed it and set it up in September. It used the latest version of qemu at the time 8.1.3_2.
It worked like a dream.
Two of my mates started to setup podman recently but it did not work. It hangs as it tries to start. I helped locate the probable cause
yesterday (Qemu). I used homebrew to (re)install qemu. It installed the latest version 8.2.0. I checked the version my 2 mates used and it was 8.2. also. My podman hangs now too (just like theirs).
Starting machine "podman-machine-default" Waiting for VM ... Error: qemu exited unexpectedly with exit code 1, stderr: qemu-system-aarch64: -drive if=virtio,file=/Users/n1654333/.local/share/containers/podman/machine/qemu/podman-machine-default_fedora-coreos-39.20240104.2.0-qemu.aarch64.qcow2: Could not open '/Users/n1654333/.local/share/containers/podman/machine/qemu/podman-machine-default_fedora-coreos-39.20240104.2.0-qemu.aarch64.qcow2': No such file or directory
I presume I can quickly resolve the issue by reverting to the older version of qemu but I can't find a way to get this to iinstall using homebrew. Can you advise? I see your web page lists 8.1.4 as the previous supported version. Running 'brew install qemu@8.1.4' doesn't work returning... Error: No formulae or casks found for qemu@8.1.4. I'd be grateful for any help/direction you can give.
Thanks,
Tim
