I would probably go for per-project wikis, but I wouldn't make it automatic. I
would have projects explicitly request a wiki. This allows each project to have
a front page, and to conveniently manage sub-pages.

We were running a MediaWiki for CouchDB before we moved to the ASF and we were
having spam problems. We forced users to register and login before making edits
and the spam problem vanished overnight.
