[Savannah-hackers-public] New maintainership for rdiff-backup

Subject: [Savannah-hackers-public] New maintainership for rdiff-backup

Hello!

The rdiff-backup project has been stale for many years with no new
releases. Now as Python 2 is about to be removed from Debian (and
other distros eventually as well) the need to revive the project was
pressing and there are now a bunch of new people taking it forward.

The new maintainership has been blessed on the mailing list, see
https://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/rdiff-backup-users/2019-07/threads.html

Related to this, I would like to request access to the page
http://rdiff-backup.nongnu.org/
Alternatively, I would ask you to put a banner there promoting the new
website location: rdiff-backup.net.

There was also rdiff-backup.org for some years, but the people who
maintained it stopped it and did not renew the domain, and it is now
stuck at a registrar for at least a year.

I am CC'ing John so he can verify something about who I am, as surely
you need to be sure you are not giving access to any random people.

We are still using the mailing list hosted at Savannah. Thanks for it!

The source however has moved to git and website has moved to Github
pages to be easier to maintain and distribute development among many
contributors (thanks to the pull request workflow). The SVN or website
at Savannah are not needed anymore, or could be kept maybe just for
archival purposes.

Regards,

Otto Kekäläinen
