Joseph Pingenot <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: FreeSci/M - The Free Science System / Ma
System name: freesci-m
Type: non-GNU

Description:
It is a framework for engineers and scientists to analyze, generate,
manipulate, and otherwise play with data. It was originally started because
RSI\'s IDL\'s support of GNU/Linux hacked me off enough to start my own
version. It\'s grown beyond that, though, and will be very extensible both on
the front-end (able to be interfaced to various object-oriented languages
hopefully, such as, potentially, proprietary systems\' languages) as well as on
the back-end, using modules and a well-defined interface to work with files and
mathematical concepts.

It does not exist yet but I\'m working on it.

Other Software Required:
g++, GNU/Linux, maybe spidermonkey for an initial frontend? Will also probably
eventually include various picture and scientific interchange formats, if the
user elects to install those modules.
