OK, so correct me if I'm wrong, what you are saying is:
a. I'm not a member of a project
b. so I cannot connect in the way described under
 'Developer CVS Access via SSH'
c. so I should try anonymous access using the trick 
described under 'Firewall workaround' ?

well this is what it gives:

$ cvs -d:pserver:address@hidden:443/webcvs

Hum, but it logs an attempt to get data with "developer
access", which you havent until you are member of the project.
