You should take a look at mailman features. The version installed is
recent. It should be possible.
If not, you should request that to mailman people. It will not happend
soon but you'll understand that it's mailman job to handle this.

I my mail to address@hidden, I also asked if
there was a way to configure the mailing lists so that only
automatic messages are accepted:

The idea here is that some mailing lists are used only for
notifications, while discussions should take place on the
(more general interest) developers mailing list.
