As far as I see, this is not a firewall problem.
However, I am quite unable to reproduce your problem.
Do you still experience it?

Because of our strict firewall, only HTTP tunneling is possible.
pserver works fine, but SSH requires an application such as putty to
go through it.

Here are my setup and the messages I get:
