######### REGISTRATION DETAILS #########
Full Name:
----------
Super Free Hacker
System Group Name:
-----------------
smw-editor
Type:
-----
non-GNU software & documentation
License:
--------
GNU General Public License V2 or later
Description:
------------
To make an editor for Nintendo's Super Mario World game that allows users
to make custom levels and graphics for the game. No copyrighted code of
Nintendo may be distributed, so the user will have an option to create an IPS
patch that allows them to distribute their hack in a manner that does not
violate any copyright laws. While there is one software that already achieved
this goal, the most major problem with it is that it's not free software, and
it does not run on a free operating system either (requires Microsoft
Windows). To add to the problem, the author has specifically stated that he
will not free the code nor will he release information on the low-level
hacking of the game. The hacking community is fustrated because this means
that it cannot support other operating systems, and long-standing bugs in the
program will not be repaired. The need for a free software editor is rather
obvious, to let the hacking community be free to edit a game they know and
love. (There is no code done at all)
Other Software Required:
------------------------
This program is expected to be built as a library, able to compile on any
ANSI C-compatible compiler (eg, GCC), and run on free operating systems
(GNU/Linux, OpenBSD, etc).
