Full Name:
 *pgal - photo gallery generator*

System Group Name:

 non-GNU software & documentation

The license of Perl (disjunction of the Artistic License and the GNU GPL)

pgal is a generator for static web photo galleries, much in the spirit of
igal ( The goal is to have something
that is more configurable with respect to igal, e.g. having slide pages where
there is also the thumbnail of the previous and next page. Another feature I'd
like to plug in is the possibility to auto-generate nested photo albums
scanning directories of photo recursively, which is something that must be
done by hand with plain igal.

Differences so far:

* not all options are (still) implemented
* uses Template::Toolkit as a templating system, allowing more powerful
customisation of pages
* only uses PerlMagick for image scaling, avoiding calling external programs

An anticipation of the code so far (working) is at

Other Software Required:
pgal requires Perl and some non-core modules, notably Template::Toolkit and
Image::Magick. All needed modules are available through CPAN
( or, except Image::Magick that is
better installed together with ImageMagick itself
( Main distros (like debian) probably have
packages for all the needed modules.
