==== Description: ====
AMCC offers a 405EP reference board with linux (v2.6) preloaded and it is
shipped with full schematics! (see

I got this board from my university teacher in order to write a driver for
the lcd small lcd display on the board.

There is a small lcd display mounted on the board (16x2 characters) and it
can be accessed within u-boot, but not using linux.

-> I want to write a nice and easy to use lcd driver in order to show some
status messages, like temperature or memory usage.

I already made some progress, it is already possible to do something like
echo "hello" > /dev/lcd
echo " world" >> /dev/lcd
resulting in displaying "hello world" on the display.

A picture of my board in action can be seen on the homepage of my university

==== Other Software Required: ====
I took the i/o adresses of the display from the u-boot routines - however I
guess the adresses can also be obtained from the manuals.
