Details:

When using gdb's TUI (Ctrl-X,A) and stepping through code, the screen does not
update.

Steps to reproduce

1) Start screen session
2) Start gdb debugging session
3) Break somewhere in the middle of some code
4) Enable TUI (Ctrl-X then A)
5) Step to next instruction (n)
6) The Highlighted line (indicating where the PC is pointing to) will
disappear and will not re-appear until you force gdb to update the screen
again (arrow-up/down to force the screen to update)

I'm guessing it has to do with how gdb's TUI is highlighting the line that
screen doesn't interpret correctly when that is the only update.
