problem getting termcapinfo to work in .screenrc

Hi all,

I'm trying to follow various instructions I've found on getting Screen
to work with 256-colors in xterm. So far, I can get 256 output in an
xterm, and I can also get it to work in Screen if I set TERM to
xterm-256color. What I can't get working is the termcapinfo stanza in
.screenrc that is supposed to update the screen-bce termcap entry.

I have attached my (currently simplified/uncommented) .screenrc as well
as a C program I am using to test terminal capabilities (compiled with
gcc -o tty-colors tty-colors.c -lncurses). When I run this program in
xterm, or via "TERM=xterm-256color" in screen, I get 256 colors. But
when I run it in screen normally, I get 8 colors. Any ideas?
