Right.  If you have your own screen config file, you would put it at
$HOME/.sceenrc.  But the one at /etc is spelled /etc/screenrc (no
dot).

Here is a snippet from the screen man page:

# ======================================
       /etc/screenrc                     screen initialization commands
       $SCREENRC
       $HOME/.screenrc                   Read in after /etc/screenrc
# ======================================

You can also use the -c command line option to specify a
configuration file at a different location.
