Yes, that would have been helpful, I'm sure. In fact, I'm using GNU/screen
on a daily basis, but only subscribed to this mailing list now, because
there's a problem :-\ And only came across this issue because the Arch
Linux distribution ships this new version.

Oh, it wasn't my intention to blame anyone, but I would have hoped that
the git bisect would help the developers in preparing a fix.
