Speech Dispatcher installation problem

I tried getting SpeechDispatcher 0.6.2 up and running this morning from
sources.  The build is rather troublesome.  The python stuff all seems
to end up getting installed under /lib:

Removing /lib/python2.5/site-packages/speechd-0.3.egg-info
Writing /lib/python2.5/site-packages/speechd-0.3.egg-info

If I copy it by hand to the right spot, things seem to work.
