The latest libasound2 package seems to fix the issues that I and others
were having with alsa-lib 1.0.16. You might give the 1.0.16-2 Debian package
a try, if you use a Debian-based system.
Here's a fragment of the changelog.Debian from the package:
Quote:
alsa-lib (1.0.16-2) unstable; urgency=medium
[ Elimar Riesebieter ]
* Introduced dmix_first_set_fix.patch from ALSA hg repository.
(closes: #469064)
End quote.
