I just thought I'd fire up speechd-el for the first time in a long
while and so far, like it. However, I would like to set some
customization variables to make things a little less verbose. First
off, in the info pages, it says that there should be a 'speechd-el'
customization group. Alas I cannot find any such group. I chose
customize from the menu after pressing F10 and I browsed the available
groups but no speechd-el. Admittedly, I am not familiar with the
customization process so could very well be missing something here.
What do I have to do to get speechd-el to show up in the available
groups? If it doesn't exist already, do I need to create it? If so,
how does one do that.
Also, I tried the spell function and it doesn't appear to work. I did
a C-e C-l C-e w as suggested in the info page to spell the current
word and it just spoke the word again; it did not spell it.
I'm using Speechd-el 2.3, Speech-Dispatcher 0.66 right now and I
believe it is emacs-21.4 or so, and espeak 1.36 or 1.37. Can any of you folks
help me out?
