Hi,
Tell us something about your system:
1. are you running speechd as user or as a system service?
2. Are you running pulseaudio
3. which audiooutpumethod have you selected?
...
If you are running speechd in a usersession,
the main sd configfile is located in ~/.speech-dispatcher/conf/speechd.conf
If your sd start during boot, you have to edit
/etc/speech-dispatcher/speechd.conf
