[Samuel Thibault] Bug#601395: speech-dispatcher: Should have a way to use svox/pico |

So far it seems that most of the major problems with Pico have been
solved. I'm now able to immediately silence the speech, even when a long
string of text is being spoken, and Speech-dispatcher no longer seems to
die randomly, or if it does, it's far too infrequent to have affected me
yet.
I am still having the problem I described where letters are missing when
spelling a word or strings of text are missing when I'm viewing a web
page, although this is happening less frequently. I also still have the
problem I described where if I interrupt or silence the speech I hear a
very short clip of the word I interrupted before the next word is
spoken. This still happens all the time. Pauses for periods and commas
also still seem to be rather long most of the time, but it seems some
pauses are about as long as they should be now. I'm not exactly sure
what is causing this, so don't know if it's a bug in speech-dispatcher
or Pico.
This is indeed a better user experience, and I want to thank the person
or people responsible for getting this module working and making
significant progress toward SVox Pico usability with speech-dispatcher
and Orca.
