can not compile more than once!

Hi,

When I clone the speechd source code, for the first time compilation
succeeds and everything is ok, but when I want to make for second time,
this error happens :

/bin/bash: ./mdate-sh: No such file or directory
Updating ./version.texi
  MAKEINFO speech-dispatcher.info
./version.texi:103: unknown command `im'
Makefile:499: recipe for target 'speech-dispatcher.info' failed

Cleaning the project, this error happens again. It seems that I can build
the project just once! Can anyone help me to figure out what is the problem?
