closing connection to pulseaudio causes issues with wireless headsets

Hi,
At work I use a savixx headset from plantronix.
Speech-dispatcher closes the connection when it's idle and the headset 
is shutting down as well.
If speech-dispatcher wakes up it takes 2 sec until the headset can 
respond.

I've looked in to pulse.c in speechd.
What do you think about making the close of the connection in pulse_play 
configurable?
