Pronounce space character

Hello,

I would like Speech-Dispatcher to pronounce the space character, i.e.

spd-say -c ' '


would say space. Instead, I get the message:

Speech Dispatcher failed to say character


I suppose there is a parsing problem? Should the space be represented
differently?

I've checked Orca's code to see how the screenreader handles the space
character. It seems it's translating chars right away, instead of
relying on spd to do it.
