loading local plugin

Hi!

first of all!THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR CREATING SUCH A GREAT TOOL!
I have problem with loading plugin called local.so or local.a
every time I lounch the streamtuner client gives me message saying that 
A plugin error has occurred.

"Plugin /usr/lib/streamtuner/plugins/local.so couldn't be loaded: unable 
to initialize: you must point the STREAMTUNER_LOCAL_ROOT environment 
variable to your discotheque before using the Local plugin."

I don't know what is exactly that means or I don't understand.could you 
explain what should I do please?thank you in advance!
