Hi Tyler,

This is certainly strange behavior.  Could you try to post a screenshot?
Also, how are you starting stumpwm? It is possible that you may be
launching the debian version without knowing it.  Here's a stripped down
.xinitrc that I use:
#! /bin/bash
exec /home/dave/stumpwm/stumpwm

I'm not surprised by the size discrepancy reported by emacs vs stumpwm,
but it is strange that emacs is only showing up in the top two thirds of
the screen.  Can you post some screenshots?  Also, you may try starting
stumpwm without an empty init file until you get things completely
straitened out.  

Finally, what program are you using to set up your monitor(s)? Are you
using multiple monitors?
