Subject: Post-doctoral position in Complex Systems

The Northwestern Institute on Complex Systems (NICO) has a few open
positions. We're especially interested in applicants with expertise in
agent-based modeling.

Please forward this to colleagues or lists that you think may be
appropriate.

Complexity Fellow (post-doctoral scholar)

Northwestern University, one of the nation's premier academic
institutions, recently announced the inception of The Northwestern
Institute on Complex Systems (NICO). A university-wide complexity
institute, NICO is comprised of a distinguished and diverse group of
faculty from all areas of the university, including engineering,
business, natural sciences, education, medicine, law, and social
sciences (see http://northwestern.edu/research/nico/).

NICO is currently offering highly competitive "NICO Fellow"
post-doctoral opportunities to young researchers who have interest in
the study of complex systems and in interdisciplinary
collaborations. Candidates must be self-motivated and goal-oriented
individuals who have recently obtained their Ph.D. and who possess
outstanding potential. Applicants must also be able to successfully
communicate ideas to diverse audiences, bridge different fields, and be
motivated to work with faculty on interdisciplinary complex systems
projects. To promote interdisciplinary work, NICO Fellows are urged to
think creatively, and to indicate in their applications the names of
faculty (and/or domains) that they can work with and that will
cross-link two different domains (e.g., social science and
engineering).

Appointments will be from 1-3 years, with negotiable starting dates as
early as late Fall 2004. NICO has ambitious growth plans and will hire
additional Fellows in coming years, who will form a dynamic
interdisciplinary community. For confidential consideration, applicants
should send a cover letter describing areas of interest, the unique
contributions s/he can make to the institute, a complete CV and some
names of NICO faculty that they could work with. Applicants should
arrange for 3 to 4 letters of recommendation to be sent
independently. All information should be submitted by email to

Northwestern University is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action
Employer. Members of historically underrepresented groups are strongly
encouraged to apply.
