I believe if you look in the mailing list archives, you'll find
Ted Belding's notes for porting to MkLinux Oct 6, 1996.

I'm pretty sure there's a fix for Symbol.m in there. Unless
that's what you've already done, in which case I'm not sure
why that would cause a core dump.
Your make output contains only warnings. Do you get the defined
but not used warnings when you compile the modified Symbol.m?
And, does the make process finish without the "Error 1" with
the modified Symbol.m?
