Dear Matt:

I've faced this 2 tcl/tk problem before. It is not a big problem to
recompile blt for the
tcl/tk 8.0 and then you will be OK. You don't describe what problem you
have compiling
blt8.0unofficial, but if you tell, I'll check it out. You could also try
the blt2.4e against
the tcl/tk8.0. That works fine too.

It is easy to force swarm 1.3 to use the tcl/.tk you want. If you do
./configure --help,
you see the options. --with-tcldir and --with-tkdir can be specified.

I'm assuming that you have tcl/.tk 8.0 installed in /usr and tcl/tk7.6/4.2
somewhere else,
such as /usr/local/. I do not think it is possible/feasible/workable to
have them both
installed in the same directory.

WHen I had 2 tcl/tk installed, I got lots of help from Marcus on
controlling the paths
when installing swarm 1.1. Perhaps some ofthat stuff might still help:
http://www.santafe.edu/projects/swarm/archive/list-archive.9712/0063.html

Incidentally, I have only tcl/tk 8.0 now, and to use TkDesk you can use the
statically
linked binaries he is offering. If that is the only app that requires the
old tkdesk,
dump it, and grab that new 1.1 tkdesk binary package!

Good luck. Let us know how the seagrass project goes.
