xfontsel is a X11 font browser that should be on your system.
xlsfonts is a batch mode program that does a similiar job.
With Windows, you can click on the Fonts icon in the Control Panel.

Yes, the usual place for this file on a Linux-based system is
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt.  The same names apply in Windows.  (Tk fakes
it for you.)
