Hi,
I had this error while compiling synaptic 0.44.pre2
make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/synaptic-0.44/po'
make[2]: *** No rule to make target `../gtk/window_main.glade.strings',
needed by `synaptic.pot'. Stop.
Fixed by editing po/POTFILES.in Change the one line:
gtk/window_main.glade.strings
to two lines:
gtk/window_main_hpaned.glade.strings
gtk/window_main_vpaned.glade.strings
Do ./configure again and away you go.
