Dear list,
since the redesign of the main window will also affect the filter editor
(the tree and sorting property will go away), I've came up with the idea
of rethinking the whole dialog. Here is the result:
You can take a look at the glade file or the fake screen shot, since it
is quite self-explanatory.
Filter management:
- new filters can be created via a button
- a "restore defaults" function would allow resetting all filters
- renaming and removing would be done via the context menu of the
filters
Rule sets:
- all rules would be treated equally - at the moment the gui for each
tab (section, tags, properties, status) is totally different
- all rules would be linked with an "AND" operation
- when adding a new filter you choose the criteria (status, section,
name, ...) and synaptic would add a new rule with e.g.
"include/exclude" for "name" or "is/is not" for status
Preferred filters:
- this option would allow to prefer some filters in the filter combo
box of the main window. This would allow to easily find often used
filters in the long list of provided filters, e.g. the "Show:" combo
box in the man window would look like this:
All Packages

Input and comments are welcome,
Sebastian
