I managed to build an optimized version of TeXmacs with g++ 3.2
without any problems...

Can you please tell what exact guile package/version are you using?

Yes, 1.3.4.

Have you tried 1.4.0, 1.4.1 or 1.6.0 ?
If so, which package (e.g. RedHat distribution RPM, custom build or smth)?

I tested guile-1.4 (my current guile) and TeXmacs crashes when built optimized.

I tested guile-1.4.1 custom built from source, and there were crashes even in
unoptimized build. I even managed to post a bug report to the list (NULL eb
deref).
Had not seen this bug yet with guile-1.4.

I tried guile-1.6.0 but there are too many changes in guile for TeXmacs to
execute.

Is this leading for guile-1.3.4 to be the recommended choice? Or I simply had
not
read all the FAQs and HOWTOs yet? :)
