Unpacking the wintexmacs-1.0.4-R2-dev0,2-nosrc.rar file resulted in three 
directories: misc, plugins, TeXmacs. I start TeXmacs by running the 
TeXmacs\bin\tmwin.exe program. I encountered the following problems:

(1) When starting up WinTeXmacs the first time, it hangs due to a Metafont 
errors like this:

By pressing Return several times, one can get beyond these problems. The 
same happens, if one starts TeXmacs for the second time, and chooses, e.g. 
Help->Welcome. With the newer version 2.4 of MiKTeX it's the same.

Is this a known problem or am I doing something wrong?

(2) On a system where I've installed the old version of WinTeXmacs with 
the installer, I've replaced the directories with the new ones. Here I get 
bitmaps (albeit they are too big). On a system where I run tmwin.exe just 
as described above, the bitmaps are broken <error|bad postscript|null box>
