I love this!

Hey all!

In case it helps, at InterMine we have public grading criteria we use to rank students (feel free to fork/clone): http://intermine.org/internships/guidance/grading-criteria-2019/ - this is managed on a Google Sheet with exported student and project names.

Once we have all proposals graded - ideally each proposal done by 2+ mentors to ensure impartiality - we can get an idea, roughly, of the number of slots we'd like to ask for.

Until you get the slot assignments, you can't select students. The final input process happens by org admins, not mentors.

Right now -- look at your proposals, find the good ones, use the min and max of your slot selection (your org admin can communicate this) to determine a number between the min/max.

Hi,
I tried GSoC web site to select students, but I'm having difficult time to figure out how we should do it properly.

- On web interface [1], we can find out our projects
- there is a start and hide icons but they are inactive, therefore I can't star a candidate
- if I click on a link of particular student I see that I can click on "WANT TO MENTOR" button, and in this case a student is added to my MY POTENTIAL PROJECTS, but
  - what if I want to select multiple students and rank them, I have no idea how I can do it
    - as I wrote start icon doesn't do anything
    - I don't know if we allow to select multiple students on particular project and then rank them, or should we only select one particular student

It would be nice if you'll clarify all these details.

Thanks,
Valentin.
