I'm still out of context. you've pointed out that PO_FILE is not used,
so the text doesn't have to use all variables. of course, GNUN may not
inject the variables that are not used any more into the newly regenerated
files.

So far, ORIGINAL_FILE can probably be replaced with ENGLISH_PAGE; PO_FILE
is used to mark the place where the variables are defined (and it could
be used as a way to see in outdated.html whether the page is outdated,
if we are going to eliminate ORIGINAL_FILE --- because other variables
may be empty); DIFF_FILE and OUTDATED_SINCE are just evidently useful.
